San Francisco Cable Cars
San Francisco’s world famous cable cars are available on 3 routes and are priced differently than streetcars or other Muni services.
Cable Car Fares
Cable cars have a fare system completely independent of other Muni services. You can pay your fare via the MuniMobile app, Clipper Card or Cash but it is a flat rate of $7.00 for a single ride. You can also buy a 1,3 or 7 day passport which will include Cable Car fares.
How to Board & Exit The Cable Car
You can only board a cable car at the beginning or end of each route. There are seats available but riders also will stand outside of the car and hold onto special poles.
You can exit at any stop along the way. Make sure the vehicle comes to a complete stop before getting off.
Transfer Rules
Unlike other Muni services, you cannot transfer to and from cable cars.
