New City: Lisbon

A few months ago, we had the pleasure of visiting a new city and country: Lisbon, Portugal. Lisbon is a popular travel destination with a rich culture and history. The very hilly city welcomes just under 5 million visitors each year making it a great choice to add to our Tunnel Time family. Lisbon is home to the iconic yellow #28 tram, a beautiful route that is a great way to see the city. In recent years, the #28 tram has become extremely popular, so you may have to wait at specific spots to get a seat, but we’ve got you covered.

Lisbon’s public transit consists of urban rail, metro, trams, ferries and buses. All of these options use the Viva Viagem card to pay your fares. While transferring between different methods of transportation isn’t an option in Portugal, there are plenty of supplementary options too.

Lisbon has many e-scooter providers and multiple bicycle and electric bicycle offerings as well. Combine these with ride sharing options like Uber and Free Now (formerly MyTaxi) and the city and surrounding area is very accessible.
