KLIA Trains

The KLIA (Kuala Lumpur International Airport) Ekspres and Transit trains are airport rail link services that aim to provide expedited travel between the two principal terminals KLIA (main terminal) and KLIA2 (low-cost carrier terminal), and KL Sentral, Kuala Lumpur’s main intercity railway station. The difference between Ekspres and Transit is that Transit will make 3 additional stops.

Distance System

The KLIA Trains operates on a distance based fare system. Ticket prices range depending on number of stations travelled.

Buying a Ticket

There are two ways to pay your fare when using the KLIA Trains in Kuala Lumpur.

Paper Tickets and E-Tickets

You can configure and purchase tickets at an available self-service kiosk (located at KL Sentral Station, KLIA, or KLIA2) or online.

Smart Card

KL TravelPass

  • RM75.00 for a single airport trip, RM120.00 for return airport trips

  • This pass also enables two-day unlimited travel on the rapidKL rail network

  • You can load money onto this card, similar to the TouchandGo card, to enable travel by bus

How to Board & Exit KLIA Trains

Follow signs for the KLIA Ekspres or Transit and pass through the turnstile by tapping an appropriate payment method (Smartcard, Ticket, or E-ticket). Stand before the yellow lines. Allow passengers to exit before boarding. The KLIA Ekspres/Transit will make automated stops so there is no need to request stops. Upon reaching your destination, tap your payment method once again at the exiting turnstile to leave.

Transfer Rules

KLIA Ekspres/Transit train tickets are single use and start/end stations for the tickets are configured at the time of purchase. Payment methods for these trains are independent from the rapidKL networks, unless you have the KL TravelPass.
