Distance System

How much is the subway in Korea? Seoul's subway system is a zone based system based on rough distance. Your base fare of ₩1250 includes 10km of travel distance and will cost you an additional ₩100 for each additional 5 km travelled. The buses in Seoul are also based on rough distance. Green and Blue (local and district) buses are one base fare however a Red (city connection) bus has a higher fare price.

Tickets

There are two options for you to pay your fare when travelling on busses or subways in Seoul.

Single Fare Ticket

To purchase a ticket, visit a ticketing kiosk in one of the Seoul subway stations. You will be asked to enter your destination and number of tickets and your fare will automatically be calculated. Deposit cash into the machine and collect your single use cards. Ticketing kiosks only take cash and require a ₩500 deposit per card. If you don’t have cash, some of the major stations have ATMs near the ticketing kiosks.

T-Money Card

T-Money is a reloadable transit card used in Seoul for the Subway, Bus and Taxis. You can also use T-Money for small purchases at convenience stores. T-Money cards are reloaded using cash at the same kiosks you purchase single fare tickets from.
