How to Board & Exit The Subway

Tap your single fare card, or T-Money card on the gate to enter the subway station. You can then follow the signs to find the platform for your line. When the subway arrives, every door will open up on each subway car automatically at each station. You do not need to request stops or press any buttons or levers to open the doors. Doors are controlled by the driver. The subway is a tap on tap off system, so you will also need to tap your card when exiting.

Transfer Rules

You can transfer from subway to subway or subway to bus for free in Seoul. There are two conditions:

  1. You can make no more than 5 transfers on a single fare.

  2. You need to make your transfer within 30 minutes of exiting your first station.
