Pricing

Regular taxi fares in Seoul start at a base fare of ₩2000 for 2km of distance. After 2km, your fare will increase by ₩100 for every 144m travelled or for every 35 seconds if you are in traffic. When using a taxi during night hours (12:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m.) a 20% charge is calculated and added to your fare.

Black taxi fares start at a base of ₩5000 for 3km and an additional ₩200 for every 164m travelled or 39 seconds. There is no night hours charge for black taxis. Large jumbo taxis can seat up to 8 people and also follow the same pricing as black taxis.

You can pay your fare using cash, T-Money card or sometimes credit card. If you want to pay by credit card, double check with the driver as not all taxis accept credit card.

How to Request a Ride

The easiest way to get a taxi is to flag one down on the street. It is best to get one that is already traveling in the direction you need to go. Some drivers will refuse the fare if they need to turn around, or if the distance is too short. Not all taxi drivers in Seoul speak English so it is best to have your destination written down or available to show on a phone.
