Istanbul has a few funiculars and cable cars in the city. These methods of transportation would only be used for very short trips (Karaköy to Tünel Meydanı) or for connections from the tram to the metro (Kabataş to Taksim Meydanı).

How to Board & Exit the Funicular
Boarding a funicular is the same as the metro, all doors will open automatically for you at each stop. Funiculars in Istanbul only operate back and forth between two stops, so it's pretty easy to get off at the right station. 😉
Transfer Rules
If you are using your Istanbulkart, you get a discounted fare when transferring between the funicular and metro or tram. You only get the discounted fare if your transfer is within 2 hours of the initial use of the Istanbulkart.
