Pricing

The price of ride sharing apps is determined by multiple factors including: distance, traffic, demand and which type of ride you are requesting. Both Uber and Gett will lock in your fare estimate when you search for your route using their respective apps. Uber offers a fare estimate calculator on its website. There is a Black Cab pricing chart available online too.
Update: Starting April 8, 2019, there will be a £1.00 charge for all Uber fares that travel through central London’s congestion zone. These charges go directly to the driver to offset the daily pollution fees they are required to pay.

How to Request a Ride
The only way to get an Uber is to use the Uber app. Your pickup location will automatically be filled in using your phone’s GPS and you manually enter your destination into the app. Once you enter your destination, you can then select which type of vehicle you would like for your ride. Uber will also show you the total amount of your fare for most vehicle types. If requesting a taxi from the Uber app, the meter may determine your total fare. Once you select your vehicle type and confirm your trip, the app will find a driver for you. You will see the driver’s photo, car make and model and license plate of your car. When the car arrives, get in and your trip begins.
