How to Board & Exit A BART Train

To enter a BART station, you will need to tap your Clipper card or ticket to go through the gates. Follow the signs to go to track level and wait for your train. All doors on BART trains open automatically at every station. When you reach your destination, exit the train and follow the signs to the exit. You will have to tap your ticket or Clipper card on the gates on the way out. If you used a Clipper card, the appropriate fare amount will be refunded to your card.

Transfer Rules

If you transfer from BART to a Muni bus or Metro within an hour of your initial fare payment, you will receive a $0.50 discount on your Muni fare. To take advantage of this transfer discount, you must use a Clipper Card to pay your fare. If you are transferring from the BART at the Daly City station, you get two free rides on Muni routes: 14R, 28, 54 and 57. To get the free transfer fare, you must take your first trip transfer within 23 hours after exiting the station and your second trip within 24 hours after exiting the station.
